The Preamble of the Zambian Constitution promises that “We, the People of Zambia, uphold the human rights and fundamental freedoms of every person”, citizen or non-citizen. ZCLU is at the frontline to defend human rights, civil liberties and democracy.

How We Work

ZCLU employs a multi-dimensional approach to redress human rights violations, promote civil liberties in Zambia, defend the constitution and address refugee-related issue. We strive to drive positive change and contribute towards enjoyment of full benefits conferred on all persons by the Constitution and the law through

Undertaking strategic litigation in our focus areas

Engaging local and international organizations in areas that advance and protect people's civil liberties

Conducting research that contribute to law development and improvement in public policy

Taking proactively all measures that secure the enjoyment of all rights by refugees and migrants, undocumented persons, unaccompanied minors, Stateless persons, irregular immigrants, prohibited immigrants, Internally Displaced Persons.
